    Next week the Kindness Club will be kicking off a Nettle Week of Kindness.  On Tuesday, the Kindness Club will be selling bracelets during lunches for $1.00 a piece.  Buy one for yourself or give one to a friend as an act of Kindness.  So bring your extra money to school on Tuesday!

    The boys soccer team finished their season yesterday. Great job this year, congratulations on all your hard work. A special thank you to 8th graders Ivan Ortiz and Anderson Marin, you represented Nettle well, we are proud of you. The end of season celebration for players will be next Thursday from 8-8:30 before school in the health room.

    Today is the last day to drop off food for the VIP food drive. We will be announcing the homeroom winners next week. Any students helping to collect donations should meet in the health room after school today.

     

    Any VIP students interested in going on the field trip next week must pass in their permission slips to either Ms. Melillo or the main office before the end of the day today.

The homeroom that collects the most items will receive a prize. We will doing a final pick up of all donations on October 27th.

    Congratulations to the girls soccer team on thier win against JGWhittier yesterday. Daniela Flores, Isis Quinones, and Zhesica Agualema Guaman all scored goals. Great job girls! Jacob Valente scored for the boys team with an assist from Dimitri Crispin, Ivan Ortiz and Anderson Marin Gomez played great on defense.

    The deadline to register for the Classical Academy exam is today, October 13th.  This exam is only offered once, so don’t forget to register if you are interested. Please see Mrs. Crowley or Ms. Melillo today if you have any questions.

     

     

    The Boys Soccer Team played JG Whittier yesterday. Jacob Valente scored with  an assist from Jakson Caguana. Ivan Ortiz and Russell Leung also had a great game. The boys next game is Tuesday at Constentino.

    The Girls Soccer team played Hillview yesterday and showed a lot of improvement from last week. The girls play Whittier next Thursday at Bradford El.

     

    Ashley Dinges was a top ten finisher in the Middle School Cross Country meet!

    There will be a dance TONIGHT from 7-9:30 at the Citizen Center. The dance is open to all middle school students in Haverhill and is a fundraiser for VIP. Tickets will be $5 at the door.

     

    Attention 7th and 8th graders applications are now being accepted for the National Junior Honor Society.  In order to be eligible you must complete an application, and have maintained honor roll status throughout the past academic year. Applications are available in Mrs. Gibson’s room (227).  The application deadline is October 16th.

    There will be a dance this Friday from 7-9:30 at the Citizen Center. The dance is open to all middle school students in Haverhill and is a fundraiser for VIP. Tickets will be $5 at the door.

    Saturday (tomorrow) from 12 to3 Nettle Schools is sponsoring a golf outing at Garrison Golf course in Haverhill,  Come play a round of golf , hit a bucket of balls, take part in the putting contest.  Proceeds come to to Nettle for field trips and other special activities.

     

     

    VIP is hosting the Walk for Peace this Saturday, September 30th from 1-3:30. This event is FREE and open to ALL students, not just VIP students. The walk starts at Swasey Field at 1pm and ends Silver Hill.

    Boys Soccer Meeting in Health Room before practice today. All boys soccer players should report to Mrs. Torres’ room by 3pm today.

     

     

    This coming Friday, 9/29, will be our first Fun Friday at Nettle.  This will be a monthly event.  Students will be allowed to wear lounge/pajama pants, hats, and/or sweatshirt hoodies for the day if they bring in $1.00.  Students are not allowed to wear slippers or tank tops to school.  Classes in each grade that raise the highest percentage of money over the next 9 months will win a “make your own ice cream sundae” party in June!

     

    On Saturday, 9/30 – join us at Garrison Golf course from 12-3pm for family fun!  Kids and adults can take a swing on the driving range, play a round of golf, try your luck at the putting contest, enjoy a hotdog and drink, and try your luck at our Halloween raffle basket ($1.00 per ticket).  Cost is $15 for kids and $20 for adults – a family of 4 is $60.
