Message from the Principal: 

Dear Nettle Families,

It was another great week at Nettle Middle School! I am pleased to share that all students have completed their i-Ready assessments. Our teachers will now use these results to provide more targeted instruction and support in each student’s personalized areas of growth.

A friendly reminder to please revisit the appropriate use of your HPS-issued Chromebook with your student. Chromebook activity is monitored through Linewize, and activity that is not school-appropriate is reported and recorded by individual student. Please help us reinforce the importance of using school technology responsibly and appropriately.

Arrival and Dismissal Safety Reminder: Parent drop-off and pick-up must take place in the lower parking lot at the rear of the school. Please adhere to this procedure, as it is essential for the safety of all students. When buses are in the lot dropping off or picking up students, the area becomes much too crowded for additional vehicles to travel through safely.

Additionally, please remember that we share the main road with Golden Hill School, and the speed limit is 10 MPH. Nettle is home to students ages 9–13, while Golden Hill serves even younger students. Please slow down and remain especially attentive when traveling through the area.

Finally, the PTO held a soft opening of the Nettle School Store on Friday! We will share more information about hours of operation, days open, and available products once everything is finalized.  Additionally, the first PTO meeting of the year will be September 21st at 3:30 right here at Nettle, hope you can all join.

Parents/Guardians of 8th Graders: This is going to be an exciting and important year for all 8th grade students! I have been meeting with all 8th grade classes to discuss high school options this week. 8th graders are in the process of joining my Google Classroom where I will be posting all high school information, updates, and deadlines. It is important for students to check this Google Classroom frequently throughout the school year.

Whittier Tech and Essex Tech will begin accepting applications online on November 1st. 

If your child is planning on applying to private high schools, please email me directly at mcrowley@haverhill-ps.org as soon as possible to ensure the application deadlines are adhered to. For any high schools/programs you and your child are considering, be sure to look at the websites for specific admissions requirements and timelines. Please let me know if you have any questions.
