All middle school buses will pick up at their stops 15 minutes earlier than originally listed. 

As you may know, the city’s long-time school bus transportation company Coppola Bus Inc. was sold earlier this summer to North Reading Transportation (NRT). NRT is the largest provider of student transportation in Massachusetts. NRT has retained Coppola staff and bus equipment. In an effort to make bus service more efficient and effective NRT has routed our buses using routing software. The software has proved effective in other communities at reducing travel-time and overcrowding. Of course, technology is never perfect, and the routes are being tweaked as we prepare for the first day of school this coming Tuesday.

The buses have been routed in accordance with Massachusetts law and with the HPS Student Handbook. Students are eligible riders by bus as follows:
K-5 All students living 1 mile from school
6-8 All students living 1.5 miles from school
9-12 All students living 2 miles from school
