Dear Nettle School Families and Haverhill Community,
We are pleased to announce that Mr. Julio Perez has been named the Interim Principal of Nettle School.
Mr. Perez—known to many as “July”—has been an integral part of the Nettle School community for the past 20 years. He has served as both a mathematics and social Studies teacher and, for the past three years, as Assistant Principal. His deep knowledge of the school, dedication to student success, and ability to build strong relationships have made him a trusted and respected leader.
In addition to his leadership as Assistant Principal, Mr. Perez has served as the 504 Coordinator for grades 5 and 6, Facilitator of the Student Support Team, and has worked closely with teachers to implement DCAP strategies that support individual student needs. He also played a key role in launching and sustaining the Playworks program, which promotes safe and inclusive play to support positive school culture.
Mr. Perez was selected from a highly qualified group of candidates, with support from Nettle School staff and families. During the interview process, he shared his pride in the work being done at Nettle and his thoughtful vision for how the school can continue to grow and thrive.
A proud graduate of Haverhill High School and lifelong Hillie, Mr. Perez has devoted his life not only to education but to the Haverhill community. He has coached Haverhill Youth Baseball for over 12 years and previously volunteered with both the Haverhill YMCA and the Boys & Girls Club. His commitment to the city and its children is longstanding and heartfelt.
Mr. Perez holds a Master’s in Business Administration from New Hampshire College and a Master’s in Education from American International College. More importantly, he brings a steady, experienced, and community-centered approach to leadership that will serve Nettle School well.
We are excited for what lies ahead and confident that Mr. Perez’s continued leadership will provide the stability and forward momentum needed to ensure success for every student and family. Please join us in congratulating Mr. Perez as he steps into this new role.
Sincerely,
Margaret Marotta EdD
