Mandatory Health Assessments
Throughout the school year mandatory health assessments are done.
BMI, Height and weight is done on graders 1, 4, 7, and 10. Here at Nettle the seventh grade is the only grade done. Letters will not be sent home unless you the parent or guardians ask for one. The data is sent to the state, no names are used during this assessment.
Postural/Scoliosis assessments are done on grades 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. At Nettle that means all the students are done. A letter will be sent home prior to this being done. The letter will include the dates, and what your child should wear that day. There is also a spot where you may sign if you do not want your child done at school. Signing this means, you will get the results from your child’s doctor and give them to the school nurse.
Vision is done yearly on entry to school through the 5th grade, then once in grade 6 through 8, and once in grades 9 through 12. At Nettle vision is done in the 5th and 7th grades.
Hearing is done on entry to school and every year through the 3rd grade.
Then once in grades 6 through 8th and once in grades 9 through 12. At Nettle grades grade 6 is done.
